“Everything you wanted to know about Gold and Silver as Precious Metals but had no one to ask…”
First… a story…
“2025… America’s Legacy from its Leaders”
“May the soul of Ronald Anderson rest in peace…” were the last words of the funeral service from their priest Father Chavez. Dan pulled Linda close to him to comfort her as she wiped the tears from her eyes and he said to her… “I love you honey! And I loved your Dad very much.” Still, Linda couldn’t stop crying and with that, Dan began to quietly sob.
They walked from the grave to their Chevy suburban with their parish priest as the funeral home lowered the huge concrete slab over the grave. The slab would prevent grave robbers, the vile activity of ancient times but again resurrected, from digging through the soft soil and robbing her father of the few pieces of jewelry she had buried him with.
Linda would have cried more tears, but life in America as it had been over the last few years, had taken the rest of her tears from her. Inflation had destroyed just about everything and everyone. First it was her mother and now her father. Her father had been a healthy man but the guilt of not being able to get treatment for the love of his life had destroyed this grand man.
All the wonderful promises of Obamacare type medical provisions for America… now wouldn’t buy a band aid. Sophisticated and specialized medical healthcare suddenly stopped… even for those who could pay for the procedures with something other than paper fiat money. Her father couldn’t find the specialist he needed in time.
Most doctors, like many Americans, had gone into the outback with their families and what they could take and were living with groups of people off the land. By the time he found the doctor he was looking for, it was too late. Her father died from severe complications of a simple infection, but Linda knew it was really from a broken heart. It was ironic, Linda thought, her father was a doctor by profession.
The funeral service had been quick and cheap and a small group of people had attended, despite the fact that thousands of people knew and respected her father deeply. Most would not venture from their homes or workplace to attend because the fear of being robbed or killed.
The cost of traveling anywhere but to work was out of the question… at least for those who still had a job. Many had emailed their condolences… those who still had computer internet service. That was over $2200 a month for those who could still afford it.
Few letters would come because the cost of a stamp was over $18 and rising daily. But it wasn’t the cost of mailing, most United States Postal Carriers wouldn’t dare travel their routes for fear of robbery and being killed. Not robbery of the mail, but theft of the fuel from their vehicles. The Federal Government seemed to be one of the few organizations that had vehicle fuel.
The new courier service of bicycle tough guys that had suddenly cropped up, had brought the most letters of condolence to them. All local though and they traveled as a group. Ten to fifteen tough young men with some firearms and baseball bats had become the new means of communication. Their price was Gold, Silver, ammunition or food for the group… real valuables. They wouldn’t take American Dollars.
But they were the new postal service and they were using their heads… creating exchange points to trade letters to other areas for valuables. An honor system of sorts amongst the vicious life that had settled on all like the snap of a sudden Artic frigid cold front that was causing callousness and brutality in everyone.
The Catholic priest had given the service at the grave on condition that Linda and her husband Dan give him a ride to and from the parish. He, like most people, preferred food over money because the dollars’ worth became less by the day. He would have performed the funeral service for nothing, but Dan and Linda provided him food for the day. The value of church donations had dwindled to almost nothing as the money became more worthless by the day and people fought to pay for essential items for themselves and their families.
The cost of driving anywhere had suddenly become just as major an issue as the cost of food and medical care. It was less than 15 miles one way to take their priest back to the parish, but at $65 plus per gallon of gas and rising weekly, this simple drive of 30 miles was costing Dan and Linda about $130. Over six times that when they counted the miles to and from their home. This day was dreary and biting cold. There was no snow yet but it was windy with strong gusts. A blizzard was coming off the Rocky Mountains, headed straight towards them.
It was a fast trip of 15 minutes as there were virtually no cars on the road. Linda saw a whirlwind of paper waste and paper dollars, plastic and debris billowing up and seemingly pursuing them like some huge dirty threatening monster when she looked into the rear-view mirror. GarBage was no longer picked up. Most people burned it in their backyard enclosed fire pit areas or wood burning fireplaces, even though it was against the law. They needed what heat they could get from it for warmth, cooking and boiling water to drink.
Dan drove quickly going through red lights, in and out of burned out and burning vehicles, stop signs and sped twice the posted rate with the Suburban. He knew they were vulnerable if they slowed or stopped at all so, he kept an eye open for barricades or vehicles poised to pull out in front of him to stop his travel. Gangs would rob them if they were lucky… rob, rape and kill them if they were not. The latter fate, including the rape, went for both male and female. The word “savage” flashed through Dan’s mind.
Linda held the family shotgun visible for all to see as a warning and Dan had another shotgun behind his seat and carried two automatic pistols. Dan had outfitted the Suburban on the front with what looked like a ‘cow catcher’ from an 1880s railroad engine. A family friend who owed him big time made it in his welding shop and installed it. It would plow through about anything without damaging the front of the vehicle.
There were no police on the road. Most departments were staffed in name only. No city had the money to pay for these essential services and most cops had quit their jobs to become the private armies and bodyguards of those who could afford to pay them. Their new employers were the grocery stores, banks, the wealthy and those businesses that dealt in large sums of cash, commodities or valuables.
They arrived shortly at the Catholic Parish. It looked like a fortress with its windows barred and boarded up. Parishioners had been taking turns guarding their priests and church around the clock. As they pulled into the litter strewn parking lot, a middle-aged man by the name of Jameson, who looked as if he had all the warm clothes he owned on, walked quickly from behind a wall towards the vehicle his weapon pointed with dead seriousness at the Suburban.
His weapon, a 12-gauge pheasant hunting shotgun, was lowered as he saw who it was. The man acknowledged them with an abrupt but friendly wave, then retreated back to his makeshift concealed guard post. Dan knew that there were a couple of other men, just like him, standing guard at other areas of the church grounds and patrolling both outside and inside of the buildings.
Dan carried two small boxes full of food into the parish as Linda, carrying their shotgun, and Father Chavez followed him.
“Please… sit down.” He beckoned for both to take a seat in front of the rectory desk.
“I will miss your father greatly. He was a dear friend of mine. I can remember him coming to me for confession and having a great sense of guilt that he couldn’t stop the very situation he knew we would be in… what his children would live through. The troubles of this day. What we are going through now!” Father Chavez said, his voice trailing off with a tone of anger.
“Father, I brought enough food for the Monsignor too. I’ve also put a few Gold quarter ounce American Eagle Dollars with it in an envelope. Use Jameson outside to trade them for food and what else you need… he’ll get you the best trades for your money. Only you know we have Precious Metals so don’t tell him who gave them to you. Just tell him they’re an anonymous donation, Father. And don’t swap the coins for too many paper bills at one time. The bills are becoming more worthless every day.”
“Is there anything else I can get for you, Father? You’re like a beacon of sanity in the lunacy of this wilderness we all live in now. You’re more important to people than you realize Father. No harm must come to you.”
Dan stood up and placed his hand under his coat as if to remove something.
“Stop Daniel!” Father Chavez blurted out watching Dan reach to his waist band. “I know where you’re going with this. I won’t take your firearm. I am a simple man of God and I trust in him to protect me. The men outside were not my or the Monsignor’s idea. But I must also say that after the robberies and the severe beating of Monsignor Thomas, it gives us a sense of security… at least until things turn for the better.”
Dan pushed the extra automatic pistol back into his waist band with a sense of frustration and defeat.
“Well, I can see that this discussion is going to go the way the previous ones did, Father. But if there’s anything else I can do, please contact me.”
“I will, Daniel.”
“Honey, we’d better get going.” He said as Linda stood up.
Father Chavez walked to Linda’s side and said, “Linda if there’s anything I can do for you, you must contact me.”
Linda stood up, eyes almost swollen shut and started crying again.
Father Chavez put his arm around her to comfort her as they walked to the rectory door. Dan took a good-sized gym Bag and dragged Bags with Winter parkas and blankets in them from the back of the Suburban as he walked over to Jameson.
He shook hands with him and said… “Mark, split this up amongst you and the others here. It’s all that I can do right now.”
The parkas and blankets were badly needed. The gym Bag was stuffed to bursting with the latest and the largest denomination of the new American paper money issued… the $10,000,000 dollar note. George Fredrich Knapp’s face was on it… but most people didn’t know him or his role in economic affairs as the initiator of Modern Monetary Theory, or MMT… most of the reason for this economic mess.
The Bag full of these new notes was probably close to what a month’s salary would have been five years ago. Dan gave no Gold or Silver coins… even though they had plenty of them… the fewer people know we have them, thought Dan, the safer we’ll be. It was a generous donation and it would help these selfless men who braved the cold to protect this little oasis of sanity left in the area.
This day was years in the coming. Ronald Anderson had become obsessed with the economic situation when the inflationary cycle began five years ago. He’d warned everyone about it for decades. Pleas for a Balanced Budget and spending reductions went unheeded
Ronald Anderson spent his remaining years converting almost all of his fortune quietly into minted Gold and Silver American coins. Bullion. His passion was his children, his church and his country and he would not bury his head like most of the rest of Americans had done. Her father and others had warned of it for years. Too guilt ridden to see himself as anything but a failure, Ronald Anderson had succeeded beyond his wildest imagination. He’d left Dan and Linda, unknown to others, as the wealthiest two people in the State… they had more Gold and Silver than they could ever spend.
The massive infusion of money into the financial systems of the Western World had thrown the financial system into total chaos and the debates on what to do went on for months, but frankly, there was nothing that could be done. America and Europe had painted themselves into a corner with no solution in sight… except the occurrence of life and society as it had surfaced now. Chaos and disaster… savings and paper American currency and the currencies of other countries were worthless. Bigger numbers, that no one thought would ever adorn American “Green Backs,” bought less from them each passing day.
America had passed the point of no return. The devastation he predicted would hurt everyone, including those who belittled him, was upon this country he loved so dearly like an oppressive cloud. He was at the age that he finally resigned himself to live the remainder of his life quietly and peacefully. It was too late now to stop the financial destruction so Ronald Anderson became quiet. He wanted to live the last years with his wife, but now she was gone. He felt he had failed in life and much of what he lived for was gone.
As Dan got in and closed the door of the Suburban, the front page of a two-week-old USA Today newspaper blew up against the windshield and the gusting wind held it perfectly in place for him to read as he glanced again at headlines that read “Chinese attack Taiwan!” Anger welled up in him towards the Chinese and their threat to dump all their American Treasury Notes if we intervened militarily with their invasion of Taiwan.
The Mainland Chinese had invaded Taiwan two weeks ago and were now in full control of the island. All Taiwanese Government leaders and the country’s elite were being executed by the thousands in televised ‘People’s Mass Cleansings’ as the Mainland Chinese Communists called them.
But Dan’s anger was more so for the politicians who aligned themselves with America’s enemy… Mainland China. These politicians controlled the American government now through blatant rigged elections and refused to honor defense alliances made years ago. Those traitors in Washington had allowed this invasion through an undisclosed agreement that was forced through Congress overnight.
The entire check and balance system that the Founding Fathers had created was now subverted. The Fourth Branch of Government now controlled the country… the Bureaucracy. Armies of Federal Bureaucrats now controlled America with the blessing of the other three Branches of Government and at the direction of a few scores of reclusive and anonymous “powers behind the throne” people who controlled almost two thirds of the world’s wealth.
It was an undisclosed agreement because Congress had decided that the agreement was too sensitive to allow it to be made public to the American people, so it was classified top secret under provisions of the Patriot Act III. Patriot Act III allowed virtually any violation of the United States Constitution that Patriot Act I and II hadn’t dare contain or hadn’t been needed up to now.
Those in the administration knew that the American public would be up in arms over this 1600-page Re Build United States Society Act (RBUSS), most of which hadn’t really been read by anyone except the political bureaucrats who’d written it, so they deemed it classified and that the American Public had ‘No need to know.’ This Re Build United States Society Act, covered everything from alternative sexual lifestyle education being mandatory for preschoolers of all private and public daycare services to unlimited surveillance on all American citizens without warrant and the freezing of bank accounts without warning of those deemed socially incompatible with RBUSS.
The lunacy of RBUSS had no bounds, as the Defense Department was to focus on transgender surgical operations and start to decommission combat units and nuclear launch facilities. Unknown to Americans and most of Washington, as an obscure provision of the same resolution, the American Government had agreed not to interfere and had given the green light to the Chinese for future invasions everywhere.
Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippine Islands, Laos and even the 300-year-old Monarchy of Thailand were in their sights. China, secure as the new Financial and Industrial World Power, was beginning to build a new Empire such as the world had not seen in the last two centuries.
The newspaper finally shifted and blew off Dan’s windshield.
Dan knew that this first concession to the Chinese would be far from the last. They would ratchet up their expansion threats and soon their military threat would come directly to America. The Chinese were treating America like a bad child who’s been irresponsible with money and needs a spanking, but they were treating their neighbors’ worse.
Washington was so desperately in need of currency, that they had accepted a small amount of Gold and China’s promise not to force a default on the huge amount of U.S. Treasury Bonds they held, in exchange for America turning a blind eye to Chinese expansion plans. Congress passed the resolution despite the disaster it would come to be for America that could clearly be seen.
There were no threats from the Chiefs of Staff, because most of these high-ranking American military Officer had prostituted themselves for their careers for decades and were still enthusiastic to do so. But it didn’t matter, they no longer had much of a functional military to threaten anyone with except maybe a few of the small countries they’d sledge-hammered years ago.
Now Chinese troops were massing on the northern border of Vietnam and the Chinese Carrier Groups ‘Beijing’ and ‘Mao Tsetung’ were sailing into the Gulf of Tonkin and the South China Sea that afternoon headed towards the Vietnam coast.
The Under-Secretary of Defense, a former Marine Combat Veteran of Vietnam, resigned. In making his public resignation statement he said…
“We lost 58,000 soldiers and the Vietnamese had over 2,000,000 dead in Vietnam in the days of my youth. None of this should have happened… as Ho Chi Minh had begged us to help him, not the French. He further begged us not to get involved with the affairs of Southeast Asia. So, Ho Chi Minh turned to the Communist Chinese and Russians for help. We made a catastrophic mistake then, but we are making a bigger one now.”
“Since the Vietnam War America has helped Vietnam rebuild their country and the Vietnamese people have become a strong economic and military ally of ours. The hatred between us is gone and we have become one people. I’ve just gotten off the phone with my former adversary and my counterpart, The Minister of Defense of the People’s Republic of Vietnam.”
“He is a hardened soldier, a worthy adversary who I have become personal friends with over the last years. This man, who has little emotion but much compassion for his country, begged me that we airlift troops there and send Navy Aircraft Carrier Groups into the South China Sea to help protect them.”
The American Under Secretary of Defense ended with an emotional plea, his voice breaking. Not thinking of himself, but thinking of what he and his Vietnamese counterpart had discussed many times when together… the American and Vietnamese blood wasted there years ago. The Under-Secretary’s voice was breaking because of his fear for the future of his counterpart’s country and the massive bloodshed that would consume the Vietnamese.
“The failure to honor our new defense treaty with Vietnam is despicable. Therefore, I will resign my position as Undersecretary of Defense immediately. This American Administration should be ashamed of themselves.’
As Dan pulled out onto the road home, a bunch of American one one-hundred thousand-dollar bills, like the rest of the litter blowing in the wind, blew across the hood of the Suburban like confetti. One glued itself perfectly in Dan’s view. The money printed now had no subtleness and strength the same as it had when all denominations were American Greenbacks honored and revered around the world.
The psychology for masses industrial strength advertising wizards had been called in by the U.S. Treasury to put their hands to the designs. They had done wonders to help calm the mentality that the money was worthless… as reality was more quickly showing the American public each day.
Despite the six digits on them, like the new $100,000 bill, they were now so colorful and beautiful that you wanted to wallpaper the wall of your home with them… which was really all they were worth… as wall covering like wallpaper.
Dan could clearly see the toothy smile of Franklin D. Roosevelt as the portrait on the one bill stuck in front of his eyes.
Ironically, the thought momentarily flashed across his mind that the turned head looking portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt always seemed to remind Dan of the same silly sideways look Peter Sellers projected while playing the incompetent Inspector Clouseau in “The Pink Panther.”
Dan also thought… “Well, he was prominent in starting all of this… it’s fitting his portrait is so visible in ending it!”
Then the contrast of Inspector Clouseau and Franklin D. Roosevelt came to Dan’s mind in words… “Different jobs… same level of bungling” as the one-hundred thousand-dollar bill moved slightly, hesitated momentarily and then slid reluctantly off his windshield as he sped away… the legacy of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
In Dan’s world travels he had formed a theory… the more colorful a country’s money became… the more worthless it was. Newly printed, crisp, colorful… and basically worthless bills. Printed by the current spiritless and indecisive American President as a politically correct tribute to his Socialist Idol… a past President who laid the groundwork for the current chaos… the chaos that Dan and everyone were smack in the middle of now.
Basic information about Gold
By Clay Olson
Uses, properties and benefits that make Gold valuable
- Does not oxidize or tarnish from the elements.
- Is a soft metal that is very easy to shape and cast.
- Almost every civilization has independently discovered and treated Gold as valuable and desirable with no influence from other civilizations.
- Except for copper and Silver, Gold will conduct electricity better than just about any other substance for electrical conductors.
- Gold is valued as an electrical conductor as it doesn’t corrode at connections.
- It is especially beneficial for electronic micro circuitry.
- Is valued almost everywhere for exchange of services and commodities.
- Is a rare metal not easily found in large concentration.
- Has a unique color and sheen that some profess is mesmerizing… ask a woman.
- Compared to other Precious Metals including Silver, Gold has a high value ratio to its weight.
- Governments can create fiat and paper money until the cows come home (the cows never come home, trust me, I’m from farm country) but they have not been able to create one atom of Gold at the price Mother Nature has produced it.
- Gold has outlasted every government, politician, religion, military general, dictator, Pope, country and every person.
- The people who own Gold generally don’t trust financial systems as others do.
- Gold survives, crashes, booms and busts and still maintains a value.
The Paper Price of Gold
Who sets the price of Gold? There is really no “one” market that sets the Gold price, but rather all world markets look to the previous market that closed, such as the London Gold Exchange opens and closes before the COMEX [Commodity Market Exchange (for Gold)] or FOREX [the Foreign Exchange market (for Gold)] or any of the other US markets.
That being said, if something dramatic happens in the world, like the “London Afternoon Fix ” came in at $2000, the COMEX could very well open at any number the free markets dictated.
For example, the London closed but a “dirty bomb” was exploded in San Francisco, then the COMEX could very well open at higher than $2000, if world Gold traders decided to load up on contracts all of a sudden as a financial investment assuming the stock markets around the world would drastically lose money.
It’s the same if the US market closed at $1900, but when Tokyo Gold Exchange opened, some entity had dumped 50 tons of Gold on the world market, Tokyo Gold Exchange price would likely drastically drop in price.
Supply, demand and fear of loss of money drives the Gold Market… in addition to huge influences that artificially suppress the market out of concern for the massive fiat currency scheme we’ve been immersed in for over 100 years.
Gold markets are supposed to be created the same as all Commodity Markets. Supply and demand. But it certainly is manipulated by other powers. The actions of those buying and selling Gold contracts at any moment in time is what literally creates a market price that people agree is acceptable to buy or sell into.
You can trade gold almost 24 hours a day, from Sunday afternoon at 5 PM to Friday afternoon at 4 PM U.S. Eastern Time through FOREX. FOREX is available for trading 23 hours per day, with one hour shut down each day.
The Paper Price of Gold: The daily ‘Spot Price’ of Gold is determined by the Commodities Exchange trades of the ‘Futures Contracts Price’ and the London Gold Exchange.
You can invest in these Futures Contracts which are usually 100 ounces of Gold or more per each contact. These are paper… supposedly representing Gold… but to get physical delivery of Gold from the Commodities Exchange is unusual and difficult.
The physical hands on purchase of Gold by individuals is almost exclusively done through Gold dealers not Members or associated with the Commodity Exchange or London Gold Exchange. However, they set the daily ‘Spot Price’ of Gold.
The Real Price of Gold
The Real Price of Gold… Physical metal, always trades at something above that Spot Gold price. This is the price that you will pay to get real Gold that you can hold and touch… while also paying some other costs such as shipping and Broker commissions.
Like Silver, when purchasing physical Gold, you will pay above and beyond that Spot Price, due to not only supply and demand, but also because of dealer commissions, shipping, refining, and other handling fees. This will be the final amount you pay per ounce.
But keep in mind, that the price above the Spot market (also known as the premium over Spot) can vary widely, day to day, and even hour to hour… minute to minute.
Warning: No one sells Gold at Spot Price… there are always costs above that per ounce. If advertised as “Gold sold at Spot Price” that’s a scam and expect to be cheated. DO NOT buy from Ebay, which is full of scams… my suggestion is to buy and sell ONLY from reputable Gold dealers.
Sizes and types of Gold coins to hold
For the average investor, error on the side of caution and buy Gold ONLY in the form of government minted Gold coins that you can verify with another of the same type of coin that you know is real Gold.Do not buy Gold bullion ingots, ‘Minted’ or not, regardless of how real and authentic they look in any shape or with any ‘explanation’ accompanying them …even if they have mint markings and serial numbers. The Chinese have made an art out of casting Gold around cheap tungsten and other valueless metal cores to produce what looks, feels, weighs and tests like a real mint made Gold ingot. It weighs the same as Gold… looks the same as Gold… tests the same as Gold… but is mostly worthless metal. They promote these actively on the internet and have cheated people out of mega millions of dollars. Many people with their money invested in these, treasure these in safekeeping yet don’t know they’re worth only a small fraction of the value of real Gold and what they paid for them. Many Gold bullion dealers have even been taken by scam Gold ingot bullion. If it seems too good to be true… it probably is fake. If there is an ‘explanation’ it is probably fake. Real Gold stands on its own in recognized minted coins.
You should buy and hold only coins minted by Sovereign Country mints or made exclusively for them. Such as…
- American Gold Eagle Gold Coins (Not all Gold… 91.7 % Gold, 3 % Silver, 5.3% copper) come in 1 ounce, ½ ounce, ¼ ounce and 1/10 ounce coins.
- American Buffalo Gold coins (99.99 % Gold) come in 1 ounce, ½ ounce, ¼ ounce and 1/10-ounce coins.
- South African Krugerrand Gold Coins (Not all Gold… 91.7 % Gold, 3 % Silver, 5.3% copper) come in 1 ounce, ½ ounce, ¼ ounce and 1/10-ounce coins.
- Canadian Maple Leaf Gold coins (99.99 % Gold) come in 1 ounce, ½ ounce, ¼ ounce 1/10-ounce coins 1/20-ounce coins 1/25-ounce coins (about 1 gram).
Many countries officially mint Gold coins, so, stick to the common Gold coins that you can tell are real Gold coins.
If you’re buying South African Krugerrands in 1/10-ounce size, you’d better have a real 1/10-ounce size Krugerrand to compare it to by weight, shape, mint markings and color.
In the world of Precious Metals, I have seen counterfeit coins many, many times as devious people try to take advantage of YOU… if YOU don’t know how to validate Gold coins you are buying as real.
Hold Gold in ½ ounce, ¼ ounce and 1/10-ounce coins… smaller fractions of an ounce. Why? When Gold becomes an alternative and preferred currency… the price will go through the roof. Consequently, it will be impossible to buy a loaf of bread that costs $7.00 when you have an ounce of Gold worth $5,000? What, cut off a piece… and what is that hacked off piece worth?
Unlike Silver that will have a value more proportional to daily purchases you have to make… Gold in one-ounce coins will not be easy to use except for big purchases or trading the Gold for paper dollars that will continue to lose value…
…if that’s why you’re forced to be out in the street with it in the first place.
Don’t go whole hog and put all your eggs in one basket… and choose good eggs, or you’ll fit into the photo caption at the beginning of Part One… “The financial disaster of people who don’t follow prudent financial guidelines.”
Spread out your ‘eggs.’ This is what you must do to protect the money and value of what you’ve earned. Invest some, or more than some, of what you have in Gold and Silver. The rest… invest wisely in real tangible items of worth.
Under no circumstances should you put Precious Metals into a ‘secure storage’ company’s or a bank safety deposit box. Look at the picture of the Executive Order from Frank D. Roosevelt making Gold possession illegal. Every bank safety deposit box in the United States was opened by the Treasury Department’s ‘Gold Policemen’ and all Gold was confiscated by the federal government.
All Gold (and it is suspect other valuable items) was simply taken with no receipt. I have read rumors that some of these Federal Reserve ‘Gold Policemen’ became multi-millionaires overnight… after all… who polices the police if no one knows if or how much was there? Tempting.
